One of the primary goals of the Associazione Produttori Camper (APC)- ANFIA consists of supporting and implementing activities designed to promote open-air tourism in Italy through the involvement of Institutions, local bodies, users, opinion leaders and tourist operators. In order to encourage policies addressed to a sustainable development of motorcaravan tourism able to reconcile the needs of motorhome users and those of local administrations, Protocols of Agreement have been signed with Federparchi and ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities).
Such agreements include a number of initiatives designed to promote the growth of motorcaravan tourism, according to practices that are respectful of the environment. At the same time the purpose is to create new opportunities for local sites, with special regard to small centres, the basic strategy being to create the conditions for the development and promotion of an Italian network of parking and stopping areas projected for motorhomes. The top priority of these programmes is the creation of appropriate services, i.e., equipped facilities where the impact of motorhomes on the environment will be minimised. Alongside the circulation of information, environmental education projects and promotional activities, such as the creation of channels linking motorcaravan users and local production realities. The main goals of the Protocols include consultancy services for the local administrations and the people interested in activating and managing open-air tourist areas.
